Salinas Valley Health Foundation Announces 2024 Local Champion for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Salinas Valley Health Foundation is thrilled to unveil its 2024 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) Champion: Jessica Hattori, a vibrant and inspiring 9-year-old from Pacific Grove, CA. As an ambassador for the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Jessica’s story of courage and resilience is set to touch hearts and foster community support for pediatric healthcare.

Since joining Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 1989, Salinas Valley Health has been committed to enhancing children’s healthcare in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties. The funds raised locally are directly channeled to bolster pediatric services and community programs in these regions.

Jessica’s journey with Salinas Valley Health began at the ‘Days of Discovery’ event at Monterey Bay Aquarium, a unique dive experience for children with special needs that is funded by donations made to our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital Program. Diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Jessica’s initial apprehension transformed into an exhilarating experience, symbolizing a newfound self-confidence.

Further enhancing her developmental journey, Jessica benefited from the “Making More Miracles” pediatric medical needs assistance program operated by Salinas Valley Health Foundation. “Making More Miracles” funded Jessica’s participation in equine therapy at Hope, Horse & Kids, significantly contributing to her social and emotional growth. This assistance program also facilitated the acquisition of a specialized iPad and magic keyboard, greatly aiding Jessica’s communication abilities.

Jessica’s mother, Jenny Hattori, expresses profound gratitude for the opportunities and support provided by Salinas Valley Health and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, sharing that these programs have played a pivotal role in Jessica’s development, fostering skills that will undoubtedly aid her future growth.

“Thanks to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the amazing programs they support, Jessica is gaining new life experiences she wouldn’t otherwise have, strengthening her development of flexible thinking and learning to challenge herself. These skills, and so many others, she will take with her as she grows… her future is now that much brighter thanks to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” says Jenny.

As we celebrate Jessica’s ambassadorship, Salinas Valley Health Foundation is eager to collaborate with the Hattori family in raising awareness about the impactful pediatric programs and services made possible through CMNH partnerships. We look forward to their participation in various campaign kick-offs, donor events, and collaborations with local corporate partners.

Jessica’s story is not just one of personal triumph; it represents the collective spirit and commitment of our community to ensure the well-being and brighter futures of our children. Join us in celebrating and supporting Jessica and the many children who are part of the Salinas Valley Health family.
