Meet our 2023 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champions!

Every year, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) asks each of its member hospitals to identify a “Champion” to serve as the face of the millions of children treated by member hospitals annually. These ambassadors spend one year advocating for the charitable pediatric need of the hospital where they received their care.

We are excited to announce that Laramie and Stetson Elam were selected as our 2023 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champions representing Salinas Valley Health.

Born two months early, Stetson and Laramie were admitted to the level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Salinas Valley Health. “They were both so small and looked so fragile,” said their mom, Summer. “Their skin was red and looked paper-thin.” Though it was initially frightening for the new parents to see their babies hooked up to medical equipment, they knew they were in good hands with expert caregivers. Having access to neonatal intensive care near their home allowed the twins’ parents to stay close to their babies during their 25-day hospital stay. Stetson and Laramie were able to receive the specialized care they needed thanks to CMNH donations that directly supported the NICU. The boys’ parents are grateful for the “amazing care and hard work” of their NICU care team. Now close to 2 years old, Laramie and Stetson are curious, joyful, and energetic boys who do everything together.

The Elam family is looking forward to sharing their story, and helping with several local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaigns, and donor and community events throughout Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties this year.
