Diving into Inclusivity: The Days of Discovery Event at Monterey Bay Aquarium

Imagine witnessing the elation in a child’s eyes as they plunge beneath the ocean’s surface for the very first time. This past Sunday, children with special needs had an exciting opportunity to try out scuba diving at the Days of Discovery event. Through a partnership between the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Salinas Valley Health Foundation, and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, these young adventurers are given the chance to experience the thrill of scuba diving.

Held at the aquarium’s Great Tide Pool, the event introduces children to the wonders of the ocean in a safe environment, allowing them to get up close and personal with marine life. What sets the Days of Discovery apart is its dedication to inclusivity. Expert scuba instructors from the aquarium ensure that every child, regardless of their abilities, can dive safely and relish the experience to its fullest.
Thanks to our donors, participation in the event is free for all families. Every child, no matter their abilities, deserves to have experiences that make them feel happy and cared for. The collaboration between Salinas Valley Health, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and Monterey Bay Aquarium reiterates this beautiful message.
